IN CAMPECHE IN SONORA

THIS IS THE SECOND LARGEST FELINE THAT INHABITS THE CAMPECHE ZONE, ONLY SMALLER IN SIZE THAN THE JAGUAR. THE PUMA IS CONSIDERED A SUB-SPECIES OF THE NORTH AMERICAN PUMA (FELIX CONOCOLOR), WEIGHTING AN APPROXIMATE OF 45 KG.

FOR THESE REASONS, THE PUMA IS AN ANIMAL THAT HAS ATTRACTED THE ATTENTION OF INTERNATIONAL HUNTERS, SPECIALLY THE ONES THAT HAVE HUNTED THE NORTH AMERICAN PUMA.

THIS FELINE IS NORMALLY HUNTED USING BAITS, THAT ARE LOCATED IN A PREVIOUSLY CHECKED AREA. WHEN WE DETERMINE THE PUMA HAS ENTERED THE BAIT ZONE, A “MACHAN” (PLATFORM AT AN ALTITUDE OF 8 TO 15 METERS ABOVE GROUND AND AT A DISTANCE OF 15 TO 20 METERS FROM THE BAIT) IS THEN SET UP AND WE WAIT FOR THE PUMA TO COME BACK IN SEARCH FOR THE LEFT OVER.
