IN CAMPECHE IN SONORA

ALSO KNOWN AS THE SOUTHEAST PHEASANT, EVEN THOUGH IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FAMILY OF PHEASANTS, SINCE IT BELONGS TO THE CRACID FAMILY (GUAN CORNUDO AND PAVON), IT IS A REALLY EXOTIC ANIMAL.

THE MALE IS BLACK, WITH A YELLOW PROTUBERANCE IN ITS FOREHEAD, AND WITH FRONTAL FEATHERS OF UP TO 8 CMS LONG, IT WEIGHTS APPROXIMATELY 4 TO 6 KILOS, AND IT IS FOUND IN THE SAME AREAS AS THE OCELATED TURKEY.

THE FEMALE, WHICH IS ALSO KNOWN AS BOLONCHANA, IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE MALE, BEING BROWN OR STRIPPED, WITH THE SAME SIZE AS THE MALE AND WITH BROWN AND WHITE FEATHERS IN ITS FOREHEAD.

IN OUR OPINION, IT IS THE ONLY BIRD SPECIES WHERE THE FEMALE IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE MALE, ITS MEAT IS WHITE AND OF AN EXQUISITE FLAVOUR.
